Could I live without Digital and Communication Technologies?
Technology is extremely influential in our lives. Living in a world where digital technology is such a large part of our lives makes it difficult to wonder what our life would be like without it. As suggested by Healey the rapid development in digital technologies has hugely impacted in the ways we "communicate, work, learn and spend our leisure time" (Healey, 2011). The use of digital media has given u the ability to actively access and participate in new forms of communication in contemporary society (Healey, 2011). The YouTube clip below illustrates how far digital media has transformed within the 21st century (World Economic Forum, 2016).

When the question asks "can we live without digital and communication technologies?", of course we can, society functioned for centuries without it. However, if we pose the question "would our lives be different without digital and communication technologies?" - Absolutely.
From a communications perspective, the use of digital technology has completely transformed the way people communicate with one another. The use of digital technologies has meant people are able to keep up-to-date with the lives of people all over the world. for me personally the use of digital technology has allowed me to be able to talk to my family living overseas in an instantaneous way. I believe that given how far the digital age has come it would be highly difficult or almost impossible to live without it.
To explore an education angle I think is it important to focus on how technology is important in the classroom. The use of technology has transformed education because it enables teachers to communicate and collaborate with other teachers via the use of social media, forums and blogs. Teachers are able to engage in different ideas and viewpoints which aim to enhances the learning experiences of students. An example of a great blog is Ms Cassidy’s Classroom Blog that shares the classroom activities that she and her class complete, ranging in all subjects.
